With raw tracks this good I knew this contest was gonna be a nightmare to vote on!  And it was 😉  It was incredibly hard to decide between JTC and Max for 1st place as both mixes were amazing!  One thing that surprised me is no one edited the lead vocal!  I found it very out of time for a lot of the song and it really messed up the groove at times.  Nevertheless some kille mixes here!

#1 JTC

This mix had incredible clarity.  Super open modern sound.  The drums were a bold choice being so loud and punchy – but it worked.  At first I wasn’t sure if I was feeling it but as the mix progressed they really seemed to lock in a neat groove!  Despite some fierce competition, it was just hard to deny the crystal ball that was this mix.  Great work JTC!

#2 MaxGabrielson

The intro of this mix was magic.  Love the ambient choices!  I ALMOST chose this mix first.  Tbh, this mix sounds more like how I imagine the song should sound compared to JTC, but it just didn’t quite have the power and polish.  I don’t know, overall I’d call it a tie but I had to make the tough choice!  The vibe was really high in this mix – great job Max!

#3 Cornelius

Super hard to pick 3rd!  Emil and Cornelius both did a great job but Cornelius eventually won me over.  The vocal felt too loud in this mix.  I think it could have come down 1-2db.  This was actually the only thing that threw me off a bit.  I mixed my vocal a bit loud too I think but this vocal just poked out of the mix to my ear.  Otherwise TOP NOTCH work!

Oh man this song has swag!  “Obsessed” features our very own Michael Leto on drums, and I gotta say I love the drum sound!  You’ll probably find the drums are as close to mix ready as you’ve ever experienced – gotta love intentional recording!  GIRATS for the win (get it right at the source in case you’re brand new to mixing).  I think you’ll all have a blast mixing this funky tune.  Enjoy!
