BONUS CONTEST

Several years ago I was contacted by an Ottawa band called “The Joys” – they were looking to record a five song EP.  Of course I accepted, but man I was nervous!  Truth is, I’d never really produced anything for anyone else….just myself.  This was my first real production gig!

A few weeks later the three piece band loaded into my tiny 10×10 foot apartment studio and we got to work.  I was reasonably confident in my mix game, but had zero experience actually recording bands; luckily, they used a cajon (rather than a full drum kit) so I was able to accommodate them in my small space.  To make a long story short, I pushed through the many obstacles presented to me by the band, and we eventually ended up with a charming little EP that still puts a smile on my face.  While far from a “perfect production”, I still find myself tapping my toe along to this humble, stripped down folk/pop tune. I hope you enjoy this month’s bonus contest song!
