HOUSE PICK

This was so hard.  jgrandmon and Zsummerill1176 had the best mixes to my ear but I didn’t find it easy to choose between them.  In the end, the warmth and fullness of jgrandmon won me over.  Picking a third place was also really tough – I was between kaldlyd, JTC and Mange586.  Here were my final choices:

What stood out the most for me with this mix was the mood.  It seemed to really suit the song.  Super warm, smooth tonality and an overall natural vibe that felt polished but not pushed.   There was just something about the fullness of the mix that felt right to me, as if the mixer really “got” the song; but, there was also a nice airy high end that made the chorus both full and sparkly.  Amazing mix!

#2 Zsummerill1176

Damn close 2nd and a very fine mix too!  I really don’t have any complaints with this effort.  The chorus felt huge, wide and lush.  I did find the vocal every so slightly murky in the choruses, which was interesting because the verses were very upfront, and present.  As the popular vote shows, this was a worthy contender this month!  Excellent mix!

Ahhhh kaldlyd, always a threat!  My only real issue with this mix was the high felt just a bit too pushed for this song.  Too much polish, not enough warmth.  It did sound really nice overall, but that high end took me out of the song ever so slightly, as if I could “hear the mix” just a bit too much.   With a slightly tamed high end, and maybe some more low mids this may have made it to my top choice cause it really was a great mix!!!

Songwriter/producer Matthew Insco  (aka Mateo Sol) has graciously provided us with ANOTHER one of his productions!   “Dive” has an open, atmospheric vibe with the classic chill verse into big chorus feel.  The tracks are super well produced and should be a joy to work with.   You’ll need to pay close attention to getting the dynamics right in this quietly epic song 🙂 Have fun!
