I really thought Guillaume had the best rock mix this month.  Great balance, energy, width and tone – the only small complaint I had was the kick was perhaps a bit too click for my tastes (but I’m being picky, it still sounded great).  JTC’s mix was again my favourite creatively.  The vocal FX were super cool and kept my ear going for the whole song.  However it lacked a bit of midrange clarity IMO and also seemed to lack a bit of transient punch (perhaps too crushed?).  But a killer mix for sure!  Kaldlyd might have taken first spot for me (not that he needed my vote!) but the snare was just a bit too piercing for my tastes.  As such, I couldn’t quite relax as I listened.  Otherwise, an incredible mix that is for sure worthy of top spot!

We are blessed to have a sweet rock song this month, courtesy of T-M member Bob Melanson (aka Melanhead).  The band, Nightingale, is a vessel for Gary Nightingale’s music, only this time he teamed up with Bob to have some fun making music together.  The result is the song “Once in a lifetime”, featuring Gary on drums and vocals and Bob on guitars and bass.  I think they did a wicked job and I promise it’s a super fun song to mix – so get in there !
