Wow, crazy good mixes this month!  I guess it’s not surprising given the quality of this production and the level of talent here at T-M.  This was hard!

WHAT A MIX!  There was really nothing that bothered me in this mix.  It all worked so well!  I especially loved the transitions  and automation in this mix.  It felt alive at all times and really carried me through the song.  The chorus hit so well!  Congrats on #1 Timothy you deserved it!

Another incredible mix from Michael.  Again, like my number #1 choice there was really nothing much to pick at here.  There was a really nice warmth in this mix that made it really easy to listen to.  I think the tonality was excellent, but it didn’t quite have the pop sheen of the top mix and it felt just a hair boomy to me in the chorus.  Nevertheless, this is top notch work!

I found 3rd place really hard!  JTC and tthorpe were both worthy 3rd place mixes IMO.  Max’s mix won me over as it had the high end energy and excitement I think this song needed.  Having said that, the reason I didn’t put this mix as #1 or #2 is I found the vocal just a bit thin at times.   So perhaps this mix had a bit too much sheen and not quite enough warmth.  Still, just a fantastic job!

MIX CONTEST # 1

HUGE pop song coming to us this month courtesy of producer Michael Leto and pop songwriter Ridg Downs (cool name).  This kinda song needs a big mix, so get ready to make that chorus CRANK.  The vocal performance and vocal production are (IMO) world class.  He sounds as good as top pop vocalists to me, and unlike a lot of vocals these were a joy to mix. Have fun folks!
