HOUSE/PRODUCER’S PICK
There was a clear top three for this contest, but I really enjoyed all the finalist mixes! I had the order different than the popular vote, although it was basically a three way tie!
#1 RJR
HUGE mix with amazing energy. It was a very compressed sound (maybe just a bit too much?), but it was done very tastefully. It just cruised along from start to finish, meaning business the whole time.

In many ways this mix reminded me the most of my own effort. It had a more relaxed feel than RJR but still sounded modern and big! My biggest/only complaint is my vocals sounded just a bit too dark. Idk, they just didn’t quite pop out the way I wanted….but man, great job here!

Another classic from JTC. I really had no issues with this mix. I thought it was great. I can’t even say why I had it third. It could easily have been first! You guys are all too closely matched to pick a winner!

MIX CONTEST # 1
Hey folks! About 4 months ago, my best mate (Andrew Johnston) and I started a serious co-writing partnership with the hopes of landing some original songs in the hands of some big name country stars! We are also taking a serious stab at getting our songs placed in TV and film. It’s been dream of mine for a while, and so far it’s been a lot of fun. “Put your arms around me” is a song that’s been bouncing around in my head for at least 5 years now – but I could never quite finish it! Luckily, with Andrew’s help we were able to complete this song rather easily (I can’t recommend co-writing enough) and are both thrilled with how the production turned out. Unlike our other September song “Can’t be seen”, this song is almost all real instruments. In the end we decided to hire a session drummer and bassist and it really helped. The rest was us strumming away as best we could! I’ve literally never been able to listen to my voice, but on this song I was actually quite happy with how I sound – miracles can happen LOL. I look forward to hearing some great mixes this month!
