Overall my favourite mix!  Nice modern sound that still seemed to capture the spirit of the song nicely!  Drums were punchy but tucked in nicely which suited the song (kind of a 60/70s song in essence).  Great work RJR!

While not the best mix technically, this mix captured the vocals better than others in many ways, at least for my tastes.  A fairly natural vocal sound is how I heard this song and this mix had that.  For lack of a better way of putting it, listening to this mix felt more like what I hear in my head than some of the others.  Well done!

I loved the band mix, but the vocals felt overcooked to me – too aggressive for the song.  With some tweaks this could have probably been my fav.  Again, huge sounding band mix!  Nice job!

MIX CONTEST # 1

In 2010 I released an album called “Pages of the day”.  It cost me 15k to produce this 10 song record in a local indie studio.  NEVER AGAIN!  In fact, it was this crippling expense that first sent me down the path of learning how to produce and mix my own music.  I simply could not afford to keep going like that!  Now, in 2024, I decided it would be fun to redo my favourite song off that album, “Summer air”.  It may have taken me over 10 years to learn how to produce and mix reasonable well, but I think it payed off as this production cost be about 150 bucks compared to 1500!!!  And (I think) it sounds a lot better.  You can hear the original version HERE if you like.  I hope you enjoy mixing this song!
